I always feel like, somebody's watching me...

Is there truly anything more upsetting than realizing that you’re being watched? And I’m not just talking about the ‘Mystery Meat’ rice Krispy treats that I’m making for a Halloween gathering. The bag of gummy eyeballs that I got off of Amazon are very realistic when you hold one in your hand. I can’t speak much on the taste of it, but it adorns a red colored blob of rice Krispy treats too perfectly! Thank you 'Livinwithmb' for the inspiration! Particularly cute, a bit disturbing but a fun idea.  I’m more specifically talking about being watched when you least expect it or feeling like someone is coming up behind you. Ladies, you know the feeling I’m talking about, it’s that invisible instinct that we have that alerts us of a threat or if our space is about to be invaded. It’s something I think God gave us to help us know if we’re in danger and something I’m very grateful for.  Let’s just say as a female runner, the roadways have been particularly odd lately. Whether it’s bee...

Football, bonfires, Halloween, Hoodies, RUNNING! It's finally Fall in Florida!

Running has always been there for me, let’s start with that. And now that it doesn’t feel like my flesh sets itself on fire when I walk outside, it’s the best time of year to enjoy my favorite pastime outdoors instead of on the treadmill! This past year I’ve had the pleasure of utilizing a running coach and have benefited a lot from her instruction. Training through the summer was grueling with the spiking temperatures and suffocating humidity. I did my best every weekend run, to time them as early in the morning as possible to at least get ahead of the crippling Florida temperatures that only rise as the day ages. Not as successful at this because even at 5:45 in the morning in Florida, it’s already warm and the heat is just as bad as the early morning humidity it seems. It’s sticky, nasty and makes you feel like you have weights tied to your feet as you smash pavement. It has been my goal all summer, to make every weekend run early enough to catch the sunrise on the bridge lead...

Just waxing poetic on this rainy Saturday afternoon…

If you don’t make a point to run in the rain, do you even love running? One thing I’m learning about being a dedicated runner during the summer, is it doesn’t matter what you wear or how much you hydrate, the heat is horrible. It’s more than horrible some days, it’s painful especially depending on the distance being ran. The elevated temperatures add an invisible challenge to the already lengthy miles and the humidity makes any experienced runner feel like they have weights tied to their feet. Most folks plan their outdoor activities around avoiding the rain but as a runner, I make a point to encounter it. It’s something to look forward to during the painful afternoon or early evening strides around the island. Most often it seems the rain comes later in the day as opposed to the early morning. The morning can be a much easier time to run although the humidity can be suffocating while adding additional weight. I will say though, while the dawning humidity is dense and annoying to ac...

Life Lately

Shoutout to HGTV for setting unrealistic expectations on how long it ACTUALLY takes to renovate a home! We’ve been residents of Fleming Island for exactly four months now and have plenty still in front of us to build our dream home. Or as I’ve been referring to it, the DINK shack! Mavs got used to the new space really quickly, he likes the backyard but loves his spot in the corner chair of our bedroom the most. Our kitchen has been completely redone, what a much-needed change. I’m loving the white and marble look and looking forward to pairing some light grey matching furniture pieces for the living room. My Pinterest is completely packed full of ideas but we’re taking baby steps until we’ve finished with everything! Next up is setting up the living room and being able to host some gatherings in the coming months. Not far from our house there’s a nice little wooded bike trial that takes you to a part of the St. Johns River. We don’t have bikes, but it made for a really nice wa...

New neighborhood means I need to find a new coffee shop...

It’s good to be back! You would think maintaining a blog would be an easy task, right? So much no… Life’s been moving at a high rate of crazy since the end of June. Going through the pains of selling a house right now in the current market is not for the weak hearted. Needless to say though, here we are almost two month post selling our first home and getting ready to move into our new house in September. Now that I’m a Clay County resident, I decided that with my new neighborhood, I needed to find a new ‘chill spot’. A tranquil environment to bring my laptop with me while also sipping some caffeinated brew. So naturally, when I started searching for coffee shops in Clay County, Spring Park Coffee came up on the list almost immediately. Tasty cappuccinos on a hot day aren’t impossible. I had the entire dining area to myself and sipped to my hearts content and even threw together a few paragraphs to post to the blog page that’s probably in serious need of refurbishing at this po...

March Recipe Picks!

Well here I go trying to be creative again! Once upon a time back in 2019, I was a grad school student looking for a creative outlet and then life changed. In the infamous year of 2020, work life in my field stood on its head, spun, and started breakdancing! As you may have gathered from looking at my Instagram profile, I work in healthcare and in the past year I got to see what being an essential worker was all about. Doing this all the while completing capstone classes for an MBA degree, how many ways can you call that crazy? Long story short, I'm trying to blog again. As this little pastime project seems to bring so much peace and focus into my life. I obviously love baking/cooking as it pertains to healthy eating. So in order to keep in theme with the month of March and all things green, I dedicated this past month of 2021 to green colored healthy foods! First up is one of my all time favorites! Green Power smoothie There are so many variations of this mix and I drink...

April Healthy Recipes

It's true that life is absolutely crazy right now, for a lot of us and not just some. The one thing we all share in common right now is quarantining and having to stay at home unless essential responsibilities pertaining to work or family call us out. For the past month I've been able to work from home, which has allowed extra time to devote to school, assembling our home gym and mostly healthy eating. I've become very spoiled with freshly cooked food as opposed to the packed meals from my lunchbox! I picked out some of my favorite recipes from this month to share with anyone who's curious about the deliciousness I keep posting in my Instagram story :)   Vegan Recipe -Sweet Potato Wedges One of my frequent favorites is this one right here. Sweet potato can be made in so many ways whether it's sweet or savory but I happen to prefer making it savory most of the time. This healthy carb pairs perfectly with any lean meat of cho...
